Summer Hiking, Running, Dog-walking

Swedetown Recreation Area has more than 25 miles of purpose-built single-track mountain bike trails with maps and trail markers, along with maintained two-track trail.  These trails are also available for nature hikes, dog walking, and trail running. The main trailhead is on Osceola Road in Calumet, look for the big welcome sign at the start of the driveway. You will find parking here.

During summer season, the Swedetown Chalet lower level is open, with restrooms and drinking water. There is another trailhead on Spruce Street in Calumet and a trailhead on M-203, watch for big sign near Cloverland Road.

Thank you to all the volunteers who adopted a summer trail. Volunteers trim brush, rake slippery leaves off the tread and check for leaning trees or encroaching brush. We have the equipment and can show new volunteers how to use it. More details are in our Trail Elf Guide. If you are available to help keep the trails in shape and want to adopt a trail for the summer, please contact: kim.larson@gmail.com
